Song Lyric Sunday Theme for 7/15/18 BREAK

I should have waited until today to post about Mungo Jerry In the Summertime, which was number one in the UK 48years ago. As I think it fits the bill of having break.

It still sounds fantastically summery today. The lyric have a drink, have a drive is dated; let’s assume the driver is drinking coke or they are having iced frappacuni; that is a much nicer image than the image at the end of the drink drive advert it was used in.

So get those Frappuccino’s, hope you are in sun. Have a break and listen to Mungo Jerry. The picture is a milkshake from Cafe 200 degrees, Sheffield.

In the Summertime

Mungo Jerry

Chh chh-chh, uh, chh chh-chh, uh

Chh chh-chh, uh, chh chh-chh, uh

Chh chh-chh, uh, chh chh-chh, uh

Chh chh-chh, uh, chh chh-chh, uh

Chh chh-chh, uh, chh chh-chh, uh

Chh chh-chh, uh, chh chh-chh

In the summertime when the weather is hot

You can stretch right up and touch the sky

When the weather’s fine

You got women, you got women on your mind

Have a drink, have a drive

Go out and see what you can find

If her daddy’s rich take her out for a meal

If her daddy’s poor just do what you feel

Speed along the lane

Do a turn or return the twenty-five

When the sun goes down

You can make it, make it good and really fine

We’re not bad people

We’re not dirty, we’re not mean

We love everybody but we do as we please

When the weather’s fine

We go fishin’ or go swimmin’ in the sea

We’re always happy

Life’s for livin’ yeah, that’s our philosophy

Sing along with us

Dee dee dee-dee dee

Dah dah dah-dah dah

Yeah we’re hap-happy

Dah dah-dah

Dee-dah-do dee-dah-do dah-do-dah

Dah-do-dah-dah-dah

Dah-dah-dah do-dah-dah

Alright ah

Chh chh-chh, uh, chh chh-chh, uh

Chh chh-chh, uh, chh chh-chh, uh

Chh chh-chh, uh, chh chh-chh, uh

Chh chh-chh, uh, chh chh-chh, uh

Chh chh-chh, uh, chh chh-chh, uh

Chh chh-chh, uh, chh chh-chh

When the winter’s here, yeah it’s party time

Bring your bottle, wear your bright clothes

It’ll soon be summertime

And we’ll sing again

We’ll go drivin’ or maybe we’ll settle down

If she’s rich, if she’s nice

Bring your friends and we’ll all go into town

Chh chh-chh, uh, chh chh-chh, uh

Chh chh-chh, uh, chh chh-chh, uh

Chh chh-chh, uh, chh chh-chh, uh

Chh chh-chh, uh, chh chh-chh, uh

Chh chh-chh, uh, chh chh-chh, uh

Chh chh-chh, uh, chh chh-chh

In the summertime when the weather is hot

You can stretch right up and touch the sky

When the weather’s fine

You got women, you got women on your mind

This Thing Called Life One Word at a Time

Can you even believe another week has gone by? I can’t. I keep making plans on the weekend to blog during the week, but then before I even know it, the week is over and I’m here writing my weekly SLS theme post again. I suppose if I just keep this one thing going on my blog, that will be enough until I can figure out what else to do with it. Hopefully you will be patient with me.

I’ve been watching a lot of tennis and soccer (sorry, football) this week. There have been some crazy games played! My favorite person/team didn’t always win, but I’m not unhappy with the men’s tennis finals, how the women’s finals ended up and also the final teams in the World Cup. I was hoping for Belgium and Croatia, but I will settle for one of them playing. I really did feel bad…
