Ok so, I got the egg when I paid for Afternoon tea and it was a mini one.
I was lucky, I was my own; I only had to wait a few minutes for a table, whereas tables of three or more were told they would have to wait 20minutes because, there are not many big tables.
I was handed menus to look at, but not one for afternoon tea. I asked about afternoon tea and was told usually have to pre book, but as just me, they may be able to do it.
I asked for it with an orange and hazelnut biscotti biscuit, as I’m allergic to nuts. The waiter advised me, that one of the sandwiches contained walnuts and asked if I wanted to swap that too. I swapped and managed to get two salmon sandwiches. The only slip was that the mini egg was hazelnut. I did realised as ate it, but luckily I’m only very mildly allergic to hazelnut unlike other nuts, so got away with it.
The waiting staff, were really really friendly and made me feel looked after even though I was on my own. I had them running around getting tap water and a pen.
The sandwiches on first layer were so cute! On the middle layer, were things to dip in melted chocolate. There were strawberries. On right of pic the two scone like things were like scones but not, very tasty a bit heavy and tasteless. The striped green, white and red things were meringues. The yellow cubes were like sponges but endured with juice maybe mango; I liked them!
On the top layer they were like Moises with a liquid centre. I liked the white one in the centre most, it had tasty mango juice. They are messy as bursts liquid as soon as bite in and too big to fit in mouth at once. They come on shortbread biscuits which are good, at dipping in the melted chocolate.
From the tea menu, I chose black tea with chocolate nibs. I did not like it. But then I don’t like black tea. The chocolate did not mask mask black tea enough for me.
This afternoon tea is seriously messy. Godiva need to provide branded wet wipes! They do not, so take own! Don’t wear Sunday best in case get in clothes like I did.
Overall, I enjoyed experience. It cost £25. I would however prefer afternoon tea somewhere else as there are places that do better afternoon teas. I would have course comeback for one of Godiva’s afternoon teas, which I have had before.
